As with Gladness
Des, the ironic columnist of St John's Cornerstone magazine, produced this special Creationtide hymn:
As with gladness men of old
Came with incense, myrrh and gold;
So in celebration we
Bring our green leaves to the tree.
There's no reason to be sad.
Chant the mantra: 'Earth be glad!'
Never mind that nasty cough;
Turn your central heating off.
Is your life insurance paid?
Then buy a bike. Don't be afraid.
Pessimism's always bad.
Chant the mantra: 'Earth be glad!'
Have a shower just once a week;
Wait until you start to reek.
Fix a solar panel up.
Fill your kettle with a cup.
Being green's not just a fad.
Chant the mantra: 'Earth be glad!'
Always eat organic veg.
Plant a wild and native hedge.
Dress in undyed homespun tweed.
Smoke a mix of herbal weed.
Why not go a little mad?
Chant the mantra: 'Earth be glad!'
