St John’s continues to establish links with churches in different parts of the world. We are, after all, members of a world wide church. The values we share can make for a beneficial and enhancing experience of the world and our faith. The differences can strengthen us, make us more tolerant, and open our eyes to different ways of interpreting the gospel.
Christ Church Cathedral, Cape Coast, Ghana
Through the Diocesan link with the Diocese of Cape Coast, Ghana, St John’s is twinned with Christ Church Cathedral. In recent years we have welcomed Bishop Daniel and the Very Revd Francis Koomson, Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, as well as many other visitors from Ghana. Members of St John’s have also visited Christ Church Cathedral and raised money for children’s projects in Cape Coast.
Following the discovery of a Holy Tabot which had been gifted to the church, there was a presentation for its return to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Subsequently a group visited Ethiopia and we have had visitors with a personal interest in the story.
