The chancel: west
Looking back west along the church it is easy to appreciate the full effect of the neo-perpendicular Gothic style of St John's. It was designed by William Burn and consecrated on Maundy Thursday, 1818. Burn worked in a wide range of styles: he also designed the neo-classical Edinburgh Academy.
