Safeguarding Policy for St John’s
Children and young people may be subject to physical, sexual, verbal, emotional or financial harm. Similarly, adults may be made vulnerable – particularly those affected by physical or mental disability, illness, infirmity, ageing, or their circumstances (such as bereavement, unemployment, homelessness or relationship/family difficulties). Such harm or abuse may occur whilst on St John’s premises or during St John’s other activities away from the church building.
It is important to provide and promote a safe environment for all who access St John’s services, activities and community.
All staff, volunteers and other members of St John’s must therefore be alert to signs of actual or potential harm and abuse to those known to us. It is important that we all know that there is someone with whom we can discuss any of our own experience of harm and abuse and who will, where appropriate, take the necessary steps to ensure our safety.
