Dr Esther Elliot - Ordinand
Esther is an ordinand at St John's, where she is continuing her training for ordained ministry. Alongside this, she works part-time as Chaplain at Edinburgh Airport. Her long-standing fascination with transport — planes, trains and automobiles — has somehow turned into a vocation, and she loves the variety of conversations and encounters that airport life brings. Born in Christchurch, Dorset, Esther grew up in Nottingham before moving to Edinburgh in 2018. Before coming to Scotland, she was a Lay Reader and spent many years in jobs training people for lay and ordained ministry in the Church of England. Since moving north, she has worked with Corstorphine Old Parish as Workplace Chaplain and been part of the ministry team at St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral. Esther studied theology at the University of Nottingham, where one degree eventually led to another, culminating in a PhD exploring the theology and worship of Charismatic Christianity. When she's not working or studying, she loves settling down with a good book and a strong cup of tea.
